Winnifred Mae Wittlin (Pierre) age 90 of Black Creek, WI passed away on November 13, 2022.  She was born to Wilfred and Mary (Fameree) Pierre on December 7, 1931 in Sturgeon Bay, WI.  She graduated from Shiocton High School with the class of ’49 and went on to achieve a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from the University of Stevens Point.  Winnifred met the love of her life, Gerald, a friend of her brother, when she was 14.  Winnifred and Jerry were married in June of 1953.  Together, they raised 7 children in their farmhouse.

Winnifred was a remarkable woman who was determined, patient, and self-assured.  She was a dedicated Catholic, always devoted to her faith.  No one was ever a stranger to Winnifred and food was always bountiful and delicious in the Wittlin home.  She enjoyed acting as a judge at county fairs, but the most important thing to her was being a loving mother and spending as much time with her family as possible.

Winnifred is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her children, Mary Beth and Paul; her siblings, Wayne (Joyce) and Everett (Helen); and her siblings-in-law, Bill, Evelyn (Cyril), Marce (Eugene), Betty (Ernest), Clarence (Glenna), and Marilyn (Harley).

Winnifred is survived by her children, Juliana (Robert), Josephine (Michael), Jennifer (Patrick), Suzette (Timothy), and Nancy; her grandchildren, Andrew, Kathryn, Carolyn, Laura, Jared, Justin, Maria, Joseph, Thomas, Claire, Theresa, Patrick, Emma, and Rachel; 15 great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way; her siblings, Nathalie and Perry (Carol); as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and lifelong friends.

A visitation will take place from 4-7 PM on Friday, November 18 at Wichmann Tri-County Funeral Home, 1592 S. Oneida St, Menasha with a rosary service starting at 7 PM.  A second visitation will take place the following day, Saturday, November 19 from 10-11 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, N3686 WI-76, Hortonville, WI with a mass of Christian burial to follow at 11 AM.  Winnifred will be laid to rest with her husband at St. Patrick’s Church Cemetery.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Moments Hospice, especially her dedicated nurses, Becky and Brittany, who were at Winnifred’s side for the past year.  Also special thanks to Dr. Santos for her care and compassion through the years.
