William Smith Boardman, age 69, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. He was born in Springfield, Illinois on October 20, 1939, the son of the late Julian S. and Doris W. (Swan) Boardman. William enjoyed doing calligraphy, reading, listening to classical music, hiking, spending time outdoors and spending time with his family. He was a generous, kind, non-judgmental, warm hearted man who supported social justice. William was a devoted father and a wonderful grandfather who will surely be missed by those who knew him.
William is lovingly survived by his son, Julian (Amanda) Boardman of Appleton; grandchildren: Selena and Harrison; nieces: Sarah and Megan; nephew, David, all of Springfield, Illinois; brother, David (Elaine) Boardman of Springfield, Illinois, and many friends and colleagues.
Funeral Services for William will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Fox Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2600 E. Phillip Lane, Appleton, with the Rev. Roger Bertschausen officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
