William (Bill) Carl Paalman, age 78, went to his heavenly home on February 29th, 2024, with his loving wife Carol and daughter Heidi at his side. He passed away at Aspire Senior Living in Oshkosh after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was welcomed into eternal life with open arms by his daughter Stephanie Marie (Paalman) Pearson, son-in-law Craig Andrew Pearson, his father Theodore Francis Paalman and mother Adeline (Neiland) Paalman. He was born on October 8th, 1945, in Appleton.
He married the love of his life, Carol Sue Mader on February 13th, 1980. Happy wife, happy life for 44 years. Together they had two daughters Heidi Sue (Corbin) Welch and Stephanie Marie (Craig) Pearson. Bill also had two children from a previous marriage, Joey Lee (Peggy) Paalman and Kelly Lee (Roy) Van Zeeland.
His pride and joy were his 10 grandchildren Rylan Welch, Nora Welch, Ali Welch, Adeline Pearson, Brookelyn Pearson, Cadence Pearson, Andrew Pearson, Logan Paalman, BreAnna Van Zeeland, and Cole Van Zeeland. If he wasn't at home, he was enjoying watching one of their sporting events.
He grew up on the family farm in Weyauwega. They had Sunday family dinners together. He attended a one room schoolhouse until the family moved to Appleton. He graduated from Kaukauna High School.
Bill was a man for all seasons. In the spring you could find him working in the garden. Summers were spent camping, 4-wheeling, fishing, boating or at the family cottage in Land O’ Lakes. In the fall, you would find Bill in his bow stand waiting for the big one. Once bow hunting was over, it was time for him to put on orange for gun season where he went up to Land O' Lakes with his families and cousins. Then it was finally time to watch the Packers.
He is further survived by two brothers and a sister: Lonny Paalman, Donna Paalman, and Alan Scott (Amy) Paalman. A special addition to our family is Lydia (Pearson) Royer, the guardian of the Pearson grandchildren.
He is further preceded in death by his brother Eugene and sister-in-law Mary Ann Paalman, sisters Marlene Paalman and Elaine Skrobel, and nephews Gary Paalman and Matthew Janssen.
Bill’s funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on March 7th, 2024, at the Wichmann Funeral Home Tri-County Chapel in Menasha. Visitation will be held from 1:30 until the time of service.
A special thank you to his nurses and caregivers at Aspire Senior Living in Oshkosh and Asera Care Hospice for their loving support and compassion they showed to Bill.
