William Charles Malm's Obituary

William “Bill” Charles Malm, age 75, passed away at his home on April 3, 2026, surrounded by his family and their love. William was born on November 11, 1950, the son of Elmer and Margaret (Pepowski) Malm in Duluth, MN. William served his country in the Army National Guard. On August 28, 1971, William married Sue who was destined to the be love of his life. They moved to Superior, began their family and through the next number of years, moved to Appleton and Eau Claire and finally to Menasha.

Bill worked at Ameritech for 30 years as a combination technician. He made many friends there. After he retired, he became a lunchroom monitor at Menasha High School. He wore the “Seniors” t-shirt with pride. Then he worked as a delivery driver but his favorite runs to the children’s hospitals.

Bill loved to be the center of attention and was often focused on using humor to disarm and entertain people. He loved spending time with his grandchildren- and would do anything for them. He also enjoyed “hunting” though his ability is debated as he only came home with a deer one time. The word is, he could sleep anywhere, even when hunting.

Bill started riding a motorcycle when the family lived in Superior, WI. Such was the nature of that classic Harley; Sue occasionally had to push the bike to get it running. He loved to give his kids rides-and even put higher pegs on the bike for them they became adept at holding onto his belt for trips!

William is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Susan, his children: William Malm, Michelle (Chad) Cappaert, Nicole (Shane Kramarczyk) Malm; and grandchildren: Jacob (Mari Dorn) Malm, Jacqui Malm, Jack Cappaert, Mallory Ebbens, Cooper Cappaert, and Lillianna Malm, Caty Leon.

William was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Margaret, and his sister-in-law and honorary third wheel “Mom” and “Grandma” Diane McLain.

At Bill’s request, no formal services will be held. He will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
