William E. "Bill" Jokela

Bill Jokela, age 68, of Appleton, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013. He was born in Chicago, to the late William and Ida Jokela on July 13, 1944. Bill spent his childhood years in Iron River, Michigan; Brantwood, Wisconsin; and Chicago, Illinois. On July 27, 1968, he married Cathleen Culligan, and they spent forty-four years together. Bill was a member of the Outagamie Democratic Party, he spent sixteen years as the Vice President for Valley Area Labor Council AFL/CIO, he was a member of the Fox Valley Coin Club, he served two six-year terms on the Board of United Way, and he was the President of Local 1346 AFGE. Bill enjoyed reading, fishing, playing pool, and spending time with friends and family. He leaves behind the memory of his sense of humor and unique laugh.

Bill is survived by his wife, Cathy Jokela of Appleton; daughters: Dawn (Matt) Helf of Appleton, and Heather (Nate) Logterman of Neenah; grandchildren: Tamara Jarvi; Haeley, Daemen, and Kyler Logterman; siblings: Susan Johnson of Brantwood, Wisconsin; and Jim Williams of Naperville, Illinois. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 326 E. North Street, Appleton, with Rev. Jeff Tengesdal officiating. Hours of visitation will be held at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations to The United Way would be appreciated
