WALDHART, WILLIAM
“WILLIE”
Willie Waldhart, age 80, of Appleton, passed away peacefully with his wife of 57 years by his side on July 17, 2009, at Appleton Health Care Center. He was born on October 22, 1928, in Colby, WI to the late William and Edna (Schaus) Waldhart.
On February 23, 1952, he married his high school sweetheart and dancing partner, Donna Van Dreel, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Colby WI. Willie and Donna moved to Appleton where they raised their family. Willie worked as a truck driver for over 50 years and retired from Mills Fleet Farm in 1993. He is survived by his wife Donna; his four children, Mary Karrow, Oxford, OH; Mike Waldhart, Forestville, WI; Jeanne (Mark) Shupe, Mosinee, WI; Stephanie (Mark) Fischer, Appleton, WI; eleven grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Willie is also survived by his brother, Gilbert (Shirley) Waldhart, Waupaca; and his brother, Wallace Waldhart, Abbotsford, WI; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Margaret Kobs and his son-in-law, Robert Karrow.
Willie enjoyed his 1941 Chevy Pick-up truck. Working on the truck was his pride, joy and frustration. When we remember Willie, we remember his love of laughter, compassion and generosity.
The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 E. Lourdes Drive, Appleton, with Fr. Don Zuleger as celebrant. Visitation will be directly at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
Special thanks to Dr. Kari Sheldon for all of her care through the years and to Dr. John Swanson while he as with Hospice. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to Appleton Health Care Center staff and Theda Care Hospice staff for the love and support that was given to all of us. We would also like to thank the Hospice and Thompson Center volunteers and Harold Bissing for playing cards and dominos with him while he was at home.
