McFadden, William D.
William “Bill” Donald McFadden passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 06, 2009. He was born October 21, 1938 in Wausau, WI and united in to marriage on October 29, 1960 to his devoted wife, Mary (Frihart). They spent fourty-eight wonderful years together. He graduated from Waupaca High School in 1957. Bill retired from the profession of barbering in 2003. He owned and operated the House of Roffler at the Paper Valley Hotel and prior to that Midway Motorlodge. He was a member of the Waupaca National Guards and served during the Berlin crisis. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and fixing things. He was a talented carpenter and freely offered his skills to those in need. During his retirement years he spent his mornings volunteering his time at St. Bernard Church, LEAVEN and most recently St. Vincent DePaul.
He is survived by his wife Mary (Frihart); four children: Dean (Kim), Kelly (Dennis) Gries, Susan (Bruce) Hornes, Greg (Stephanie); seven grandchildren: Nick and Danielle Gries, Sondra Hornes, Megan and Nick McFadden, Jacob and Nathan McFadden. He is further survived by his mother Leona and bother Robert; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father Roy, mother-in-law Marie Frihart and father-in-law Myron Frihart.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine Street, Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established for the Hope Lodge, Rochester, MN.
