Wilbur Leroy Lemke, of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the age of 84. Wilbur was born in Appleton on June 15, 1933. Throughout his life, he enjoyed baseball and was an avid Milwaukee Brewers, Timber Rattlers, Appleton Foxes, and Appleton Papermakers fan. Wilbur also loved dogs, walking in the woods, and fishing on the Fox River with his brothers.
Wilbur is survived by his four brothers and their families; Marvin (Mary) Lemke, Phil Lemke, Robert (Boontin) Lemke, and Marty Lemke. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilbur is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Hilda Laura Elizabeth Jahnke-Lemke, his twin brother Arthur Lemke, his sister Pauline Hurst and brother-in-law Marvin Hurst.
The Lemke family would like to give thanks and express their great appreciation to the Brewster Village nursing staff and the entire Brewster Village team for providing Wilbur with such exceptional care throughout the years. Special thanks and gratitude to Laurie Bonnin for assuming Wilbur’s guardianship and doing a great job in the process.
In accordance with Wilbur’s wishes, there will not be a formal funeral or visitation service. Wilbur will be laid to rest privately at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton at a later date.
