STRANGHOENER, WERNER
Werner Stranghoener, 84, of Appleton, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011 at Colony Oaks Care Center. He was born on August 1, 1926 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of the late Rudolph and Johanna (Oberhokamp) Stranghoener. Werner graduated from Quincy High School and Valparaiso University in Indiana. He met his loving wife of 55 years, Dolores Schirm, of Appleton at college and they married on August 13, 1949 in Freedom, Wisconsin. They moved to the Appleton in 1955. Werner served his country in the U.S. Army and retired as an officer in the Investment Division at Aid Association for Lutherans (Thrivent Financial). He was a man of deep faith and a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Appleton. Werner enjoyed traveling and family vacations. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Werner is survived by his children: Linda (Mike) Wolcott, Indianapolis, Indiana; Larry (Lynn) Stranghoener, Plymouth, Minnesota and Ron Stranghoener, Seattle, Washington; grandchildren: Ericka, Rachel and David Stranghoener. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Stranghoener and brother, Rudolph Stranghoener.
The funeral service for Werner will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL with Rev. James Wiebel officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call on Saturday from 2:30 pm until the time of service. Memorials to Faith Lutheran Church are appreciated.
