Age 81, passed away at Oakridge Gardens on Saturday, September 25, 2010. He was born in Escanaba, MI on April 28, 1929 the son of the late Walter and Doris (Menard) Stahl. On June 20, 1953 he married his wife of 57 years, LaVerne Nytes. Wally was proud to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, spending time in Japan. He started working for Valley Ready Mix Concrete Company/M.C.C. in 1950 starting in sales and retired as the sales manager in 1993. He was a member of The American Legion in Winneconne, Disabled American Veterans, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Wally enjoyed golf and got a hole in one, fishing in Canada, snowmobiling, boating, and especially the Packers. He will be remembered cherishing his family and adoring his six grandchildren.
Wally is survived by his wife, Laverne; children: Jim (Susan) Stahl of Winneconne, and their children: Matthew (Ashley) Stahl of Oshkosh, and their children: Gabriel, Jonah and Micah; and Nathan Stahl of Menasha, Hannah Stahl of Tuscon, AZ and Jonathan Stahl of Winneconne; Sue (Howard) Longin of Weston, FL, and their children: Michael (Tracy) Longin of Weston FL, and Jennifer Longin of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Nanitte Stahl-Grote of Madison; and brother-in-law, Gerald (Catherine) Nytes of Menasha. He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis (Richard) Schouten; and brother, Keith Stahl.
The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC CHURCH, 516 DePere St., Menasha, with Fr. Paul Radetski officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
The family extends a special thank you to Affinity Health V.N.A. and Affinity Health Hospice; and, the nurses and aides at Oakridge Gardens.
A memorial fund in Wally's name is being established.
