Virginia ‘Ginny’ Roi Russler (Johnson), age 81, of Appleton, WI, peacefully passed away on September 3, 2024. She was born on December 23, 1942, in Devils Lake, North Dakota, to Roy and Fern (Gish) Johnson. Ginny graduated from Stevens Point High School in the class of 1961 and earned her Bachelor of Arts from St. Olaf College. In December 1965, Ginny married the love of her life, Frederick “Fred” Russler, in Stevens Point, WI, and together they raised their family in Appleton, WI. A talented pianist, she turned her love for music into a career, sharing her gifts as an elementary music teacher, piano teacher, accompanist, and Fox Valley Youth Symphony Manager.
Ginny will be deeply missed by her children, Kirsten (Ian) Russler Noble and Andrew “Andy” (Camille) Russler; her grandchildren, Alex and Erik Noble, Lauren and Audrey Russler; and other surviving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Fred Russler.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 9-11 AM at First English Lutheran Church, 326 E North St, Appleton, WI, with a memorial service to follow at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First English Lutheran Church. Ginny’s family would also like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and care coordinators at ThedaCare At Home Hospice.
