“Vi”
Viola M. Fries, age 81, of Menasha, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Vi was born on March 23, 1929, in Mosinee, to the late Frank and Genevieve (Falkowski) Kuklinski. She married Merlin “Bud” Fries on February 8, 1946, in Chicago; he preceded her in death on February 6, 2004. Vi was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. With Bud, she enjoyed their river cottage in Fremont for over 40 years. Vi especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also a member of the Ladies Quilting Group at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Zittau, Wisconsin. Survivors include her son, Steven (Laura) Fries, Manitowoc; her daughters, Lori (Greg) Marx, Appleton, and LynLee Fries and her special friend Ron Luebke, Appleton; her grandchildren, Stacey (Bret) Kuether and their children, Brock and Gillian Kuether; Jacob Fries and his special friend Kim Brzozowski (and her daughter, Evelyn); Margaret (Dustin) Brill and their children Chester, Lonnigan and Adele Brill; Kyle and Kelsey Marx; and Stephan and Evan Baumler; and her former son-in-law, Mark Baumler. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harris, Benedict and Clarence Kuklinski; her sister, Louise Estlund; and her great granddaughter, Allison Kuether. Funeral services will be at Noon on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at OUR REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1750 Midway Road, Menasha, with The Rev. Debra “Dee” Sim officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial has been established in her name. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to The Rev. Debra “Dee” Sim; the staff of Heartland Hospice; and her special friends, Connie and Adell; for their loving care.
