Vera M Wimmer

Vera Wimmer, age 80, of Appleton, lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 6, while in Cherry Meadows. Her loving husband Hugo was by her side when the Lord called her home.

Vera worked at many places including, National Tinsel Company in Sheboygan, National Can in Chicago, and Gibson Musical Instrument Company in Kalamazoo, MI. Vera was an avid bridge player, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, traveling and most of all spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Appleton Womens Club, Frank Harwood Y's Menettes, and an active member of Faith Lutheran Church. Vera will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Hugo; a daughter, Deanna (Chip) Groth of Minneapolis, MN; a granddaughter, Stephanie; a brother, Clarence Yurk of Brookfield; and a sister Ester Priebe of Whitefish Bay.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Casper and Sophia Yurk; a brother Otto Yurk, and sisters Cora Mentink, Violet Sonnenberg, Alma Traas and Freida Ertel.

The funeral service for Vera will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012 at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH (601 E. Glendale Ave.) at 11:00 AM with Rev. Daniel Thews officiating. Entombment will be in the Highland Memorial Park. A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service Faith Lutheran church.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the compassionate and caring staff at Peabody Manor and Cherry Meadows. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Appleton.
