Valia DeRoma, 102, of Menasha, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center.
She was born on December 8, 1909 to Angelo and Mary Roman in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania. She spent most of her life in Pittsburgh, coming to Wisconsin in 1993. She married Albert DeRoma on September 14, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Valia is survived by her daughter Pat (Tom) Rodgers, two granddaughters; Susan (Jim) Thornton, Wausaukee, Mary Ellen (Dave) Goetz, Eagan, Minnesota, and a great grandson Trevor Thornton, and a special friend, Dawn (Mark) Ringes, Sandy Hook, Connecticut. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Malvina (Luis) Diaz and Lillian (Walter) Connors and two brothers Lee and Peter (Nelda) Roman.
There will be no services per her wishes.
The family is especially grateful for the care and kindness shown to her by Dr. Stephen R Dernlan and the staff of Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center during her stay there.
