Dolan, Thomas J.
Thomas Joseph Dolan, age 80, of Combined Locks, passed away Thursday morning, July 16, 2009 at Appleton Medical Center. Thomas was born April 23, 1929 in Oshkosh, to the late Thomas K. and Mary (Hubertus) Dolan. On October 18, 1986 he was united in marriage to Doris A. Peerenboom. He was formerly married to Marie Maloney-Dolan, she preceded him in death on August 28th, 1983.
He was a veteran of the US Army and employed as a diesel mechanic at Olson Trucking in Appleton and then CW Transport of Kaukauna until his retirement. He was also a bartender at the Darboy Club for many years. During his life he vacationed in Tomahawk where he loved to teach his children to water ski. He loved to golf, play cribbage, go to movies, travel to Florida each winter, dress up with friends for Halloween, watch the Brewers and most recently ride his jazzy to church and across the street to watch baseball. If you needed a good laugh you would have Tommy tell you a joke. He had many. He was the most selfless man anyone could have known and he loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and dear wife very much.
In addition to his wife Doris, Thomas is survived by his 8 children: Pat (Debra) Dolan, Dennis Dolan, Kevin (Michelle) Dolan, Sean (Christine) Dolan, Maureen (Chris) Stoffel, Colleen (Tom) Schuelke, Eileen Dolan(special friend Roy) and Shannon (Kevin) Pomeroy; 4 step-children: Tim (Norma) Peerenboom, Michael (Julie) Peerenboom, Paula (Paul) Grenier, and Jennifer (Steve) Chamberlain; 24 grandchildren ; 6 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters-in-law: Janet (Richard) Verbeten, Carol (Gene) Stuyvenberg; Laurie (Jeff) Vander Velden, Rita Malchow, Barbara Vander heiden, Mary Ann Hoeft, MaryJo Maloney; one brother-in-law: Tom Maloney; and many other relatives and friends.
Thomas is preceded in death by his two daughters: Terry Ann and Mary Dolan; his brother, Roger K. Dolan, and sister-in-law Carole Dolan.
A Memorial Service for Thomas will be held 5:00 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009 at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street, Combined Locks. Fr. Jim Lucas will be officiating along with Fr Bob Vandenberg and Deacon Dan Viertel concelebrating. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers at Appleton Medical Center and Theda Care At Home for all their wonderful care and support.
Every minute of life is a gift and God has given Doris and I just enough time to find our love and know we belonged together.
