Thomas A. Winter

We have lost our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Tom was a lifetime member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, and was called home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 19, 2025. Tom was 84 years old, born in Appleton on October 3, 1940. Tom was the eldest son of Roy and Evelyn Winter.

Tom was a graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School and MSOE, Milwaukee School of Engineering. He worked for his father, Roy R. Winter at August Winter & Sons, and later became president of the Company. Tom was an active member of the Mechanical Contractors’ Association of Wisconsin. Tom enjoyed the game of golf and also enjoyed the 19th hole! For many years Tom also looked forward to spending the winter months in Naples, Florida.

Tom is survived by his wife of 44 years: Sandra Winter; three sons: Gary Winter, James (Jeni) Winter, and John (Sally) Winter; adopted daughter Kelly. Tom and Sandy also raised two granddaughters, April (Nathan) Searer and Ashley. Additionally, Kaycey, Zac, and Riley also called him Grandpa. Tom is also great-grandfather of five! Tom’s brother, Robert H. (Sandra) Winter, who ran AWS with Tom; niece: Julie (Andre`) Winter-Paez and a nephew Michael (Tracy) Winter.

Tom fought his battle with Parkinson’s for several years and the disease stole his balance and so much more, but he never lost his beautiful smile. A thoughtful and generous man, Tom loved life and lived courageously, without complaint.

The Christian Funeral Service for Tom will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, located at 302 North Morrison Street in Appleton. Rev. Matt Holtz will officiate. He will be placed at rest at Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will take place at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
