Theodore O. Daelke, was called home at the age of 88 to be with Jesus, on Thursday, April 13, 2023. Ted was born on November 29, 1934, Thanksgiving Day, the son of Arthur and Emily (Scheffler) Daelke. He became a child of God on March 15, 1935, at St. John Evangelical and Reformed Church, Appleton. Ted graduated from Appleton High School, the Class of 1953, and served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. He was then employed with Marathon Corporation in 1956 and retired from its successor companies in 1989. Theodore transferred to New Jersey with American Can Corporation in 1972, and resided in Alexandria Township, NJ until 2005, when he and Janet returned to Appleton. He was confirmed on March 2, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton. Ted was united in marriage to Janet Techlin on October 4, 1958, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Town of Freedom. After retirement he worked various jobs through Manpower until his total retirement in 2005.
He held memberships at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flemington, NJ and charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Perryville, NJ serving in various positions on the church councils. He participated in the Boy Scouts of America serving as Weblo den leader, cub master, scout master, and chairperson of Boy Scout Troop 112, in Alexandria Township, NJ.
Returning to Appleton, he and Janet rejoined Faith Lutheran Church, Appleton and became involved with the Together in Missions Committee, Senior Ministry Committee, and Spiritual Care Ministry. They also volunteered at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center and Bethesda Thrift Store in Neenah. Ted enjoyed traveling the United States and foreign countries of Germany, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Denmark, Spain, Italy, and others. Being an only child, he was blessed with a wonderful wife, children, and grandchildren who called him Bip.
Theodore is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janet; survived by 2 children: Kari Daelke and Kevin (Kelli) Daelke: two grandsons: Grant and Bennett Daelke; brother-in-law: Fred Techlin; sister-in-law: Betty Ann Techlin; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Theodore was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother: Martha (Bodmer) Daelke; step-sister: Charlene Johnson; sister- and brothers-in-law: Joan (Ivan) Drews, Fred (Patricia) Techlin, and Carl Techlin.
A memorial service for Ted will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E. Glendale Ave., Appleton. Visitation will be on Friday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Inurnment will be at Community Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Freedom. In lieu of flowers, Faith Lutheran Church for the Senior Ministries Committee or the Lutheran Hour Ministries.
