Thelma M. Junion, 94, of Appleton passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Peabody Manor. Thelma was born on December 11, 1917 to Herbert and Anna (Pakalski) Steidl in Appleton. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Menasha. Thelma married Melville Junion on July 17, 1952 in Athens, Greece. She worked for many years as a beautician at the Peacock Beauty Shop in Menasha holding a beautician's license for over 60 years and at Peerless Cleaners. She enjoyed knitting, croqueting, bowling, cooking, playing cards, traveling, going to casinos and bingo. Most of all she loved her family and the time they spent together will always be treasured. Thelma was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the VFW Women's Auxiliary.
Thelma is survived by three children; Barb (Bill) Sharpe of Menasha, Francis (Karen) Junion of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Geri (John) Kasper of Appleton, four grandchildren; Kyle and Cameron Junion, Samantha (Andrew) Schilling and Melissa Kasper, a brother John (Carla) Steidl of Kennewick, Washington, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Melville.
The funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH (222 E. Fremont St.) at 11:00 AM with Fr. Don Zuleger officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Menasha.
