Terry Otto, 68, of Greenville, entered eternal life surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 23, 1957 in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Eugene and Beatrice Otto. He was a proud graduate of Appleton West High School and went on to spend nearly 40 years working at Foremost Farms. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Terry lived a life defined by quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Terry was the beloved husband of Judy, with whom he would have celebrated 40 years of marriage this coming July. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and an open-door welcome to all. He was an amazing father to Andrew and Christopher, and a loving and proud grandpa to Caden, Charlotte, Kennedy, and Rory—his greatest joy.
In his younger years, Terry loved adventure, often taking road trips with his brothers and close friends on his 1979 Honda CB650. He had a passion for classic cars, including his favorite, a 1981 Camaro Z28, and he often fondly reminisced about his memorable trip to California.
He found his deepest happiness in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whether cheering from the sidelines, sitting around a campfire up north, or simply being together. Terry loved mentoring kids and coaching sports, and he was a constant presence at his grandchildren’s games and events, affectionately known to many as “Coach Terry.” A familiar face at the ball diamonds, Terry spent countless hours supporting Greenville Youth Sports—first watching his sons play, and later cheering on his grandson Caden. He was also famously known for making the best “Papa bread” around, a small but meaningful tradition cherished by family and friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Otto; his father-in-law, Thomas Schreiter; and his brother-in-law, Steve Schreiter. He is survived by his mother, Beatrice Otto; his loving wife, Judy; their children, Andrew (Julia) Otto and Christopher (Markie) Otto; their grandchildren, Caden, Charlotte, Kennedy, and Rory; his siblings, Jim (Sharon) Otto, Mark (Alicia) Otto, Joe Otto, Lisa (Tom) Schilcher, Lynn (Peter) Andres, Lori (Rick) Dibbs, John Otto, Kelli (Dave) Hildebrand, and David Otto; his mother-in-law, Marie Schreiter; and his siblings-in-law, Jeanne (Don) Pappas, David (Bobbie) Schreiter, and Tim (S.O. Tracy) Schrieder. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Compassus Hospice, especially Linda, for the exceptional care, compassion, and support shown to Terry and his family during this time. They would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Michael, as well as the ICU doctors and nurses at St. Elizabeth, for their dedicated care, kindness, and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Greenville Youth Sports, an organization that reflects Terry’s lifelong love for community, youth, and the game.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
