Suzanne M. Carter

Suzanne “Sue” Mary Carter (Birling), age 92 of Neenah, WI joined her heavenly kingdom on October 1, 2026. She was born to Edward and Adeline (Jurek) Birling on April 5, 1934 in Menasha, WI. Sue married Robin Johnson, Sr. and together, they had 12 children. Later in life, she found love again with Edward Carter, uniting their families.

Sue was known for many things, but above all, she was a fierce warrior as a mother of 12 and grandmother to over 100. She loved cooking and baking in both her personal and professional life, working at Prokash’s Restaurant for over 35 years. She enjoyed traveling whenever she could and made it to 49 states before her passing. You could often find Sue enjoying some of her hobbies, which included feeding the birds, embroidery, and cheering on the Packers whenever she could. She was known very affectionately by many grandchildren as “Grandma Horsey” from her life on the farm and her animal companions. More than anything, Sue loved her family, cherishing every moment she could spend with them. She was so proud of everyone she helped to raise.

Sue will be deeply missed by her children, Vicki (Royal) Berggren, Mike Johnson, Doug (Julie) Johnson, Duane “Peanut” (Mary) Johnson, Cindy (Jerry) Ewig, Cathy (Rick) Robbins, Jeff (Lynn) Johnson, and Tim (Katy) Johnson; her grandchildren, Stacy (John) Ruhl, Scott (Patti) Johnson, Carl Casperson (S.O. Shayla), Tiffeni Price, Andy (Tina) Lukasavage, Christine (Bill) Kolgen, Shawna (Nathan) Geise, Jason (Cassie) Johnson, Paul (Robyn) Locke, Jessica (Bob) Doller, Noah Surbas, Isaiah (Jennifer) Johnson, Crystal (Nathan) Haag, Jude (Erin) Simons, Chad (Sara) Bonnell, Tammy (Adam) Kons, Michelle Boushley, Janelle Ewig (S.O. Andrew Wiese), Danille Ewig (S.O. Kyle Kaelin), Heather, Nicole, Lisa (Scott) Laabs, Stephanie (Jeff) Dalrymple, Amber (Tim) Sonnenberg, Casey (Heidi) Johnson, Cody Johnson, Alyssa Baldwin, Brooke (Riley) Rogers, Jordan Johnson, Anna Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Carter Johnson, Miley Johnson, and Colt Johnson; many other great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends, including Marie.

In heaven, Sue is reunited with her husbands, Robin and Edward; her children, Debbie Casperson, Patrick Johnson, Robbie Johnson, and Tammy Johnson; her parents, Edward and Adeline; and her siblings, Edward, Sally, and Alice.

A funeral visitation will be held for Sue from 9 AM – 12 PM on Monday, October 12, 2026 at Wichmann – Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee St, Menasha, WI 54952 with a funeral service to follow at 12 PM. Sue will be laid to rest at St. Mary Cemetery in Menasha, WI following the service.

Sue’s family would like to extend a special thank-you to the wonderful nurses, doctors, and other supporting staff at Irish Road Assisted Living, Adava Care, Rennes Rehabilitation, and Silverstone Memory Care for all of their care and compassion shown to Sue during her times of need.
