Susann A. Appleton

Susann “Sue” Agnes Appleton, age 82 of Neenah, WI passed away on April 26, 2026. She was born to William and Loretta (Schuh) Appleton on July 22, 1943 in Kaukauna, WI. After graduating high school, she went on to study two additional years in college. Sue spent most of her working career in secretarial work, working for the Bank of Kaukauna, Boldt Construction, and Kimberly-Clark.

Sue lived a busy life, filled with many accomplishments. She served on many committees and belonged to many clubs. Sue was very active in her churches, playing organ, singing with the funeral choir, crafting with the prayer shawl group, and counting the money and serving on the finance committee for church picnics. She also played and worked at bingo events. Sue participated in Fox Cities groups, including Volunteer Fox Cities, Rebuild Fox Cities, and the RSVP Group. She also belonged to an accordion club and a ballroom dancing group. Every Sunday, you could find her out on the town on random rides with Janie. Sue was a valued member of her community and her churches and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and fellow volunteers.

Susann is survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Appleton; her nieces, Dorothy (Mark) Standaert, Phyllis (Joe) Sprangers, Barbara (Brian) Smith, Sarah (Gary) Van Wychen, and Ellen (Mick) Adkins; her nephews, Scott Appleton (Special Friend Trisha Culp) and Ben (Lori) Dietzen; her cousins, Wayne and Suzanne Sevick; as well as several other extended relatives and many dear friends.

Susann was preceded in death by her parents, William and Loretta Appleton; her siblings, Dorothy Appleton, Mary Jane Appleton, William Appleton Jr; and Patricia (Norbert) Dietzen; and her nephew, Bernard Dietzen.

A funeral visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:15 AM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a mass to follow at 11:30. Sue will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Kaukauna, WI. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in honor of Sue.

Susann’s family would like to thank her neighbors, Marcia, Wayne, Mark, and Mary for their kindness and compassion shown to Susann through the years.
