Steve D. Schink

August 26, 1955 — January 19, 2022

Stephen Donald Schink, age 66 of Kaukauna, WI passed away on January 19, 2022 after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer.  Steve was born to Conrad and Patricia Schink on August 26, 1955 in Appleton.  After he graduated from Appleton East High School, he went on to become a maintenance mechanic for St. Elizabeth Hospital for 40+ years.  He met the love of his life, Beverly Walter, in 1975, and they were married in October 1977.  Together, they raised two children, Julie and Todd, whom they loved dearly.  They were his pride and joy.  Steve was diagnosed with cancer in November of 2017 and fought a courageous battle, never giving up hope.

Steve was a true outdoorsman.  He loved fishing, hunting, golfing, and trapping.  He also loved spending time with his grandkids, playing baseball, football, and golf.  He was an incredibly handy man, never turning down anyone who asked for help.  He was a competitive griller, always looking to become better at the art.  More than anything else, though, Steve loved his family time.  He loved spending as much time with his family as he could.  He had many friends and was loved by all who met him.

Steve is preceded in death by his son, Todd Schink; his parents, Conrad and Patricia Schink; his parents-in-law, Harry and Ruth Walter; his sister, Lynn Milheiser; and several nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts.

Steve is survived by his wife, Beverly (Walter) Schink; daughter, Julie Schink; siblings, Charles Schink, Cindy (John) Paul, and Jeffrey Schink; daughter-in-law, Katie (Andy) Schink-Pawlowski; grandchildren, Benjamin, Weston, and Nathan Schink, and Will and Elissa Pawlowski; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

A public visitation will be held for Steve on Saturday, January 29 from 3-7 PM at Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E. Kimberly Ave, Kimberly 54136 with a service to follow at 7 PM.  Steve will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Appleton, WI.

Steve’s family would like to extend a special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and entire staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, especially Dr. Abbi and the oncology department for all their amazing care, compassion, and expertise through this difficult time in Steve’s life.  Also thank you to Steve’s family and friends for all the love, support, and prayers you’ve offered.
