Stephen Keith Myers

June 25, 1952 — May 9, 2025

Stephen Myers passed away on 9 May 2025 at his home in Menasha, Wisconsin. He was born on June 25, 1952, in Lisbon, North Dakota, the son of Keith and Virginia (Overson) Myers. He lived in Enderlin, North Dakota until 1961, at which time the family moved to Menasha. Steve graduated from Menasha High School and attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He worked in a variety of jobs, including at the Appleton Post Crescent, a number of hotels in Arizona and the Appleton vicinity, and several senior care facilities in the Appleton area. In the 1980s he put aside his own working career to help his mother take care of his Father who was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. After his father’s death in 1994, he continued in a caretaker role for his mother who passed away in 2010. He will always be remembered for his love of family and his lifetime of care for them. Steve was an avid supporter of wildlife (the birds of the area will sorely miss him) and a champion of area feral cat care and control efforts. His love and concern for Patches and Tiger who lived under the front porch helped them survive and even prosper during the cold Wisconsin winters. His stay-at- home cats, Duncan, Domenic, and Henry will sorely miss him. Steve also had a great interest in astronomy, building his own telescope and editing the newsletter for the local amateur astronomy club for several years.

Steve is survived by his brother David Myers, and a number of cousins on both the Myers and Overson side of the family, and friends who helped him through several years of poor health.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Keith and Virginia Myers.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on June 25, 2025 at the Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee St., Menasha with a visitation at the same location from 10 to 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to Valley Cats Rescue at valleycatsrescue.org, phone number 920-810-1388.
