Stanley Richard Kiefer, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home on January 13, 2026. He was born on June 29, 1949, to Rodney and Janet (Johnson) Kiefer. He grew up in the family home on the Fox River in Menasha with his 7 siblings. He enlisted in the Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam where he earned a Bronze Star. He returned from his service in 1971. He spent 7 years in California with brother Bill then returned to Wisconsin to be nearer friends and family. Thereafter, he began doing work that he loved as a private contractor using his carpentry and painting skills.

He shared his life with long-time partner Gail Gillette until her death in 2020. The shared their home with various pets and many friends. Stan was especially fond of sharing time in his garage man cave with friends and family. Stan was known to be generous with his friends. His garage man cave always had a stock of beer and whiskey to share.

Stan was a wonderful gardener. He was a great wood carver and enjoyed working in his garage on various items. He also had a bit of an artist’s flair and enjoyed imbuing his world with beautiful things. Stan enjoyed many sports from golf to baseball. Stan had a charming personality and was able to use his charisma in many ways with friends and other people in his world.

Stan is survived by his brothers and sisters: Anne Gollnick, R. Michael (Irene) Kiefer, Susan (Ted) Blohm, William (Jodee) Kiefer; nieces and nephews: Tim Rock, Tom Rock, Kelly Rock, Kate Rock, Ted Balthazor, Shelly Jahnke, Karen Kiefer, David Kiefer, Ginny O’Harrow, Emily Blohm, Aaron Blohm, Shelly Hamilton, and Joseph Hamilton; and other relatives and friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sister: Marjorie (Don) Howard, Douglas Kiefer, Daniel Kiefer; nephew Kevin Rock. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life and longtime partner Gail Gillette.

A special thanks for Stan’s friends Todd Kuehl and Laura Lattimer as well as many other friends for their consistent friendship as well as for providing not only care but companionship to Stan.

Stan’s family plans to have a celebration of life at a later date in his man-cave. Until then, raise a glass in Stan’s memory, and share a “Stan the Man” story.
