Shirley Elsie Slatky

Shirley E. Slatky, age 85, of Appleton, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Care Partners Assisted Living in Clintonville. Shirley Elsie was born on January 11, 1941, in the town of Marion WI. She was the daughter of the late Harvey, and Violet (Miller) Beyersdorf. She was the oldest of 12 children, no “baker’s dozen” for her parents! She attended Big Falls grade school and attended Marion High School. Shirley worked at R. Sabee’s in Appleton for 26 years.

Early into adulthood, she was married to Robert Grimm and they had four children. Robert and Shirley separated and on July 11, 1981, she married Norman Slatky. They shared 43 years together. Shirley and Norman enjoyed their life together. They travelled thousands of miles on their Harley Davidson. Many adventures to nearly every state in the union and winters in Florida were a part of their life together.

Shirley is survived by her children: Shirley “Deedee” (Craig Carr) Seay, Susan (Tom Natzke) Grimm, Delwin (Connie Prill) Grimm, Ashley (Kathy) Grimm; 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters. In addition, she is survived by her sisters: Verna (Michael) Forseth, Wanda Berkholtz, Brenda (Randall) Wedde, Angie Burroughs; her brothers: Gary (Cathy) Beyersdorf, Mark (Kathy) Beyersdorf, Wesley (Jackie) Beyersdorf, Kevin (Nancy Wisnefske) Beyersdorf as well as many nieces, nephews, two step-children and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Norman, brothers: Marvin (Diane) Beyersdorf, Wayne Beyersdorf, Neil Beyersdorf; brother-in-law Robert Burroughs, son-in-law Floyd H. Seay, Jr.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Friday September 11, 2026, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N Superior Street, Appleton. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 9:00am until the service begins. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.

A special thank you to the staff at Care Partners. Your compassion and care made Shirley feel at home and like a member of the family.In addition, thank you to Kristy Crum and the other hospice staff for caring for her so well. Thank you to Shirley’s nieces Sarah Krueger and Kailey Rosenow for using their professional expertise in assisting in caring for her.
