Obituary

Shirley M. Ratchman (Lorenz), age 94, of Greenville, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home on August 4, 2026, surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

Shirley was born on January 20, 1932, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to John and Mae (Evers) Lorenz. She was preceded in death by her spouse Donal, her parents John and Mae, and her beloved sister June.

On August 3, 1963, Shirley married the love of her life, Donal. Together they built their family and shared more than six decades of marriage. She is survived by their four children, Brien (Sara) Ratchman, Kelly (Timm) Gloudemans, Dean Ratchman, and Jay (Donna) Ratchman; and nine cherished grandchildren: Nathan, Matthew, Tessa, Karisa, Garett, Kaitlyn, Olivia, Ava, and Alex.

Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy came from caring for her family. She had a selfless spirit, always putting the needs of others before her own and offering unconditional love, encouragement, and kindness to everyone she met.

She enjoyed a long career in banking, serving customers at Chase Bank in Appleton through its many transitions over the years, dating all the way back to when it was known as First National Bank of Appleton. Her warm smile, friendly personality, and genuine care for others made her a favorite among customers and coworkers alike.

Outside of work, Shirley treasured time spent with her family, especially gathering at the family's Northwoods cabin, where countless memories were made. She was known for her unwavering faith, and deep devotion to her Catholic faith. Shirley was blessed with many lifelong friendships that enriched her life.

A Funeral Liturgy celebrating Shirley's life and her entrance into eternal rest will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, N2385 Municipal Drive, Greenville, Wisconsin. Visitation with the family will take place from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers of Compassus and Home Instead for the exceptional care, kindness, and support they provided to Shirley and her family during her final days.
