Shirley Larget

May 31, 1936 — May 4, 2025

Hortonville

Shirley Larget, age 88, passed away on May 4, 2025, after an illness. She was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on May 31, 1936. She married Jim Larget on July 29, 1967.

Shirley was a kind-hearted, resilient person who enjoyed being with family above all else. She was the longest living member of Center Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She was active in helping to organize and participate in church socials, women's group, and singing. She graduated from Outagamie Teacher’s College in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, and worked as a teacher early in her life. Shirley remained a teacher years after she left the school house. She loved to sit with her grandchildren, exploring books and puzzles, and looking out at the wildlife that visited their backyard. Shirley loved watching the birds, bluebirds in particular.

Shirley and her husband, Jim, were avid sports fans and watched as many Milwaukee Bucks, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badger games as they could.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Jim, to whom she was married for 58 years. She has one daughter, Lisa (Robert), two grandchildren, Mitchell Garson, and Allison Klapps, and 2 great grandchildren, Bella and Axle Klapps.

Shirley is also survived by two brothers, Harold (Vera) Peters and Gene (Barbara) Peters. She was preceded in death by one brother Donald (Doris), and her mother Ruth Peters.

Shirley will be missed by many, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
