Shirley Habeck, 74, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2011 at Cherry Meadows in Appleton.
Shirley was born on March 15, 1937 in Seymour to Ingbret and Esther (Wendt) Nelson. Shirley was a CNA for 46 years working most recently at Gardenview Assisted Living until the time of her illness. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening and caring for her family and friends. She will be remembered as a beloved sister, mother and grandmother and a devoted friend. She was the kind of friend that everyone cherishes; she always thought of you first and herself second.
Shirley is survived by her son Gary (Julie) Erdman of Oshkosh, daughters; Amy (Dave) Mollus of Menasha, Wendy Nelson of Appleton, and Charlotte, seven grandchildren; Jared, Shannon, Amber, Andrew, Ashley, Josh, and Daniel. She is further survived by her sister Mary Ellen (Lew) Cole and one half sister and half brother and special friends Roy and Al Stohlman. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Don Habeck.
The funeral service for Shirley will be on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL at 11:00 AM with Rev. Robert Balza officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ohio Cemetery at 2:30 in Rio.
The angels are rejoicing and singing with exceptional beauty because they have been joined by one of their own. After a truly courageous but hopeless battle against a rare disease, Shirley quietly slipped away from us and into her life eternal. Shirley's family and friends would like to express their deep appreciation to the medical staffs at AMC, Mercy Medical and Peabody Manor for the expert, compassionate and loving care she received from them.
