Shirley Ann (Kappell) Dix of Combined Locks, passed away peacefully with her family at her side. Shirley was born May 10, 1937, to Raymond and Genevieve Kappell. On September 1, 1956, she married Ronald Dix at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton. Shirley was a crossing guard in Combined Locks for 26 years she also loved to sew-she made a lot of her own clothes as well as sewing for others. She went to the mall every Friday night with her husband and granddaughter Juanita. When Juanita turned of age, she took Grandma to karaoke every Friday night at BJ Clancy and then Michiel’s.
Shirley is survived by 5 children: Dave (Pam) Dix, Jean (Santos) Anaya, Jim (Gail) Dix, Joe Dix and friend Karen and Mark (Brenda) Dix; fifteen grandchildren: Juanita, Mario, Tiffany, Tommy, Trenton, Jon, Rob, Mike, Olivia, Ashley, Ali, Breanna and Tony and 21 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters: Bonnie Gorges and Geraldine (Al) Demers; sister-in-law Margie Kappell, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ron; son Tom who passed away in 2022; parents Raymond and Genevieve; brother Jack Kappell and sisters Marlene (Porkie) Brooks and Janice (Emmette) Clark; brothers-in-law LeRoy Gorges and Dan Dix; sister-in-law Janet (Dick) Cotnoir; as well as father and mother-in-law Herman and Virginia (Hamer) Dix.
A memorial service for Shirley will take place at Wichmann Funeral Home-Jansen Fargo Chapel, 204 E Kimberly Ave, Kimberly, on Friday May 15, 2026, at 2:30pm; Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 1:00pm until the time of service. Shirley will be interred at St Paul Cemetery in Combined Locks
Shirley really wanted to make it to her 89th birthday party where she could enjoy some pizza and cake! In her memory, please share the joy of these favorite foods with someone and think of her!
