Shirley A. Verbrick

January 27, 1936 — November 17, 2018

Shirley Ann Verbrick (nee Dunsirn), age 82 passed into the loving arms of the Lord on Saturday, November 17, 2018. She was born January 27, 1936 to Harvey and Olive (Pendergast) Dunsirn. On August 13, 1955 she was united in marriage to Robert J. “Sam” Verbrick. Together they raised four children and enjoyed 50 years of love and laughter before Sam passed in February 2006.

Shirley’s life was one of selfless service. From a young age, when needed to help with the family business (The Pasttime Supper Club) she answered the call to duty rather than pursue her own needs. When her parents died too soon she cared for her younger sisters. While raising her family, she made countless heavenly meals for all the friends and extended family; no one ever left the house hungry. Her kitchen also prepared many wonderful meals for the Xavier Food Fair. Always at the ready to provide child care for the little ones and graciously caring for Sam’s parents at the end of their lives, she always wanted to give what was needed.

She is survived by her four children, son Patrick (Amy) of Chicago and their children Greta and Noah, daughter Mary (Dave) Koehler of Hortonville and their children Dustin and Dylan (Brittany Tesch), son Michael (Lori Schaetz) of Appleton and his children Andy (Katie Dercks), Bill (Brittany) and their mother Katy Jacklin, Lori’s children Max Gehrke , Zach, Macey and Emma Schaetz, son Robert “Joe” (Debbie) of Reno, NV and their children James (Nicole) Ryan, Donald (Lisa) Ryan and Robert “Bobby Joe” Verbrick. She is further survived by great-grandchildren Grant and Hailey Koehler and their mother Erica, Lukas and Jackson Verbrick and their mother Kara Jacobson, Jordy and Mason Verbrick, Ella and Graham Ryan and Havannah Schaetz. Her sisters Sandy (Norm) Glodowski, Pam Dunsirn, sister-in-law Helen Lotzer and her daughter Jenny, along with many other dear nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother and father in-law Thomas and Florence (Simon) Verbrick, brothers and sisters-in-law Thomas and Millie Verbrick, Marge and Jack Jahnke, Clarence “Sonny” Lotzer, Donald and Barbara Verbrick.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at The Creeks at Ivy Acres (N3594 Market Rd., Hortonville). A memorial fund is being established; condolences can be sent to Wichmann Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Jess, Cody and Sue from Kindred Hearts for their loving care.
