Sharon Joyce (Cracraft) Polzien, age 78, passed away on February 27, 2026, at ThedaCare Appleton following a brief illness. 

Sharon was a person of unparallelled joy, compassion, curiosity and friendship. She was gifted with the ability to make anyone, and everyone feel important-truly, like they were the center of her world. Her legacy is one of joyful living. '

Mimi-as she was known to nearly everyone, was “Mimi” to all who she encountered. It began as a term of endearment for her grandchildren but quickly morphed into who she was-as she was indeed Mimi to all who knew her. Mimi was especially proud of her grandchildren, Brady and Regan. They were the light of her life and she made sure that everyone knew of them as well as all of their accomplishments and activities. Such as it was, that Mimi moniker truly reflected who she was and where her heartbeat was. She was generous of spirit and of her personal time. She was a natural host-and brought one and all into her home where she made them feel 100% welcomed.

Following her diagnosis, Mimi walked with grace and dignity. She mirrored that dignity and grace to all she encountered from the techs at the hospital and ER staff all the way to each and every nurse on the floor. They provided the compassionate care that allowed her joy to shine.

At Mimi’s request, there will be a no formal service, however her family will celebrate her life with a memorial gathering on Saturday March 7, 2026, from 11:00am until 1:00pm, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 1592 S Oneida Street, Menasha. We will celebrate with food, laughter and stories told quietly (or perhaps notsomuch) in the corners. Please join us.
