Sandra L. Herrmann, age 83, passed away on September 17, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family. Sandy was born on December 23, 1941, to the late Thomas and Marion (Solie) McKenny. While a sophomore at Appleton High School and working at the Rio Theater, she met Gerald “Jerry” Herrmann who happened to be a ticket taker while she was the counter person. Jerry was smitten at first sight, and he began his quest to win Sandy’s heart (and that of her mom). She graduated and in 1961, she and Jerry were married and began their family.
Sandy worked as a stay-at-home mom while raising her children. Once her youngest was a bit older, she began work outside the home. She worked at various companies until she started her work at AAL in the annuity services department. AAL sent her to Roosevelt University in Chicago and received her certification to be a paralegal-which she then did until she retired.
Sandy was a gifted yarn worker and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She volunteered with the local PTA and sang in choir at church as well. She and Jerry enjoyed serving on various committees at her home church First English Lutheran in Appleton. Friends and family were also important to Sandy. She enjoyed spending time (and chatting) in the hot tub at the Y. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Sandy is lovingly survived by her husband of 64 years Jerry Herrmann; children: Tom (Jackie) Herrmann, Heidi (Martin) Viera, John (Kelley) Herrmann, Jenny (Brian) Rammer; grandchildren: Max (Maddie) Herrmann, Sam (Kayla) Herrmann, Rebekah (Waldy) Abreu, Kyle (Brian Eickert) Richter, Andy (Shauna) Richter, Jeff Richter, Anna (Tyler) Van Ess, Charlie (Hannah) Herrmann, Courtney (John Hoffman) Rammer, Kelsey Rammer, Mercedes Viera, and Mari Viera; great grandchildren: Fitz, Isabel, Jacob, Skyler. In addition, she is survived by her sister Sue Kromm and other relatives and friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; grandson Martin “Bud” Viera and in parents-in-law Rudy and Emma Herrmann.
