Ruth D. Tobin (Nachtwey) age 74, passed this life on June 1, 2025.
She fought the fight of recent health issues both valiantly and brave, in what turned out to be her final struggle. She heard God call her name, she reached for his hand and found her way home.
Ruth was born on August 8, 1950 to the late Paul and Angeline (Van Vonderen) Nachtwey, joining three siblings, Donald, Dorothy, Jerome “Jerry”. There was an age span, but the family was close and loving. Love, respect and kindness was taught to her by example. She followed these values through her life.
Her child home in the country outside of West De Pere, WI was open for play, imagination and fun. It was filled with aunts, uncles, and many cousins who were all important in shaping her life. She was happy.
Ruth met Mike when she was 15. Friendship grew into TRUE love, and they were married on March 22, 1969 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Neenah, WI. Ruth cherished Mike and he was her rock. Together, they had two children, Mike and Angie, whom they raised well and close to their heart.
Her grandson, Tyler, was an answer to her prayers. She was ready to be Grandma. She put her whole heart into being the best grandma that any kid could want! She spent much time with him and loved him completely. He made her proud and he made her smile.
She had a green thumb and loved to travel. She and Mike would hop into the car and go. They enjoyed their life together.
She was a loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She laughed often and loved with sincere caring and feelings.
Ruth is survived by her son Mike and his wife, Katie (Van Gompel); her daughter, Angie and her partner, Jami Estes; her grandson, Tyler Tobin; her sister, Dorothy Gerritts; her brother, Jerry Nachtwey (JoAnn); her sister-in-law, Jean Nachtwey; her special cousin, Kathy Perock, and many other cousins; her brothers-in-law, Bill (Diane) Tobin, Pat (Rella) Tobin, and Henry Tobin (friend Pat); her sister-in-law Helen (Mike) Berens; her friend and neighbor, Kristi Branchford; her special friend, Jim Kohl; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Tobin; her parents, Paul and Angeline Nachtwey; her brother, Don Nachtwey; her brother-in-law, Russ Gerritts; and other loved ones.
A celebration of life will be held for Ruth at a later date.
