Age 91, died Tuesday evening, March 5, 2002. She was born February 7, 1911, to the late Carl and Meta Lou (Wetzel) Bilter, in Appleton. Ruth married Carl O. Wenzlaff on September 4, 1933, at First English Lutheran Church, they celebrated 67 years together. She was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was very active getting the new church established. While a member of the church, Ruth, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, for many years. She worked in the church’s youth programs and was active in scouting, as a Den Mother and a Girl Scout Leader. Ruth was an avid Packer fan, a lover of nature, a defender of animals, loved crafts and travel and was a former member of the Appleton Elks Lodge. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger Carl and Sandie Wenzlaff, Appleton; Gary Dean and Karen Wenzlaff, DePere; four grandchildren, Keith Wenzlaff and his fiancee, Tammy Weyers, Mike Wenzlaff, Chelsea Wenzlaff and Tyler Wenzlaff; two great grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Wenzlaff; a brother-in-law, Victor Wenzlaff, Virginia; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Haefs, Appleton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl O. Wenzlaff on November 5, 2000, a daughter, Kay Lynn Wenzlaff, a sister, Grayce (Fred) Streng and a brother-in-law, Harold Struebing. Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 9, 2002, at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 900 North Mason Street, with Reverend Todd B. Murken officiating. Entombment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 am, Saturday, until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
