Jill Morrissey, age 85, died unexpectedly at the Appleton Medical Center on Friday, March 6, 2009. Jill was born in Lake Linden, Michigan, daughter of the late John and Cecille Morrissey. As a young child, Jill suffered an injury that would require special care for the rest of her life. That special care came first from her parents and family, and eventually from friends and caregivers at StrongHaven in Weyauwega and Agape A7 in Kaukauna. At those facilities she met many wonderful people and made many dear friends. Jill is also survived by her friends Bob and Liz Miller of Appleton and Mary Vanden Bosch of Freedom; two brothers: John Morrissey of Phoenix, Arizona and Douglas Morrissey of Apple Valley, California; a special cousin: Jean Magnant of Beach Grove, Indiana; and seven nieces and nephews.
The funeral liturgy for Jill will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at ST. KATHERINE DREXEL PARISH (St. Mary Site), 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Jill will be remembered as a gentle and loving woman who also had a zest for life. Though she lived a difficult life, she never gave up, trusted upon her God and her caregivers, and remained positive, gentle, and friendly at all times. Those traits made her special, and she will never be forgotten.
