Ronald E. Wenzel passed peacefully into eternal life on December 23, 2023, at the age of 89. He was born in Appleton, WI on June 10, 1934, to the late Bernhard and Elizabeth (Goettlicher) Wenzel. He graduated from St Mary High School, Menasha in 1952. Ronald was united in marriage to Mary Ann Riese on June 19, 1954. They were blessed with 69+ years of marriage.
Ron served in the National Guard, retired from Marathon/American National Can after 38 years where he earned several patents, and later for Martin Automatic, Illinois.
He was a member of St Mary Catholic Parish for over 70 years and served on the cemetery board committee. He was also a member of the Sherwood Planning Committee, and a Christmas kettle bell ringer for the Salvation Army for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
Survivors include Ron’s spouse, Mary Ann; three children and their families: Robert (Lynn): Dr Ann and Nick; Michael (Betty): Dr Theresa Weerts, Tim and Lauren Loeb; Mary Sue (Paul) Semanek: Dr Brian, Dr Sarah and Michael; and eleven “little greats.” He is also survived by his sister Janice Van Airsdale, his in-laws Rose and Walter Pauls, Sancee Riese, and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law: Ferdinand and Anna Riese; and brothers and sister-in-law: Jerome (Maureen) Riese, John Riese, and Jack Van Airsdale.
A memorial mass and liturgy to celebrate Ron’s life will take place Friday January 26, 2024, at 11:00am at St Mary’s Catholic Parish, 528 2nd Street, Menasha. Friends and family may gather at the church from 10:00am until mass begins.
