Ronald “Ron” Bruce Monfils, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 23, 1957, to Wilmer and Shirley (Jarvey) Monfils, Ron grew up in the Green Bay area as the third of four children. He graduated from Green Bay West High School and ACME School for Tool and Die Design and began work as a draftsman.
Ron was truly one of a kind. He famously operated according to “The Ron Way”, a philosophy that didn’t always align with the rest of the world, but it was a way rooted in independence, deliberation, and doing things right. This steady, resolute nature made him the rock of his family and a man that could be depended on. He carried this same dedication into his career as a Service Manager for Sandvik Rock Processing, a role he held with great pride for many years.
His life’s greatest journey began in a Camaro, one of many cars he admired, when he drove to a bar in Eagle River and met Yvonne Senkel. From there, they embarked on a 50-year partnership and began building a full life together. They were married on October 13, 1979. Ron was immensely proud of their two daughters, Rachel and Kathryn, and his cup truly overflowed with the arrival of his five grandchildren. To them, he was simply "Grandpa."
Ron’s happy place was outdoors, spending most weekends up north in Athelstane and Silver Cliff area where he enjoyed sharing time with family at the cabin and walks in the woods. Whether he was shooting pool, golfing, hunting, or fishing, Ron enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—ideally paired with a good glass of red wine, a daily cigar, and a home-cooked meal.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; his daughters, Rachel (Richard) Liccion and Kathryn (Martin) Kouters; and his beloved grandchildren: Cora, Greyson, James, Yara, and Lynn. He also leaves behind his siblings, Michael (Frances) Monfils, Sherry (Gerald) Wygralak, and Steven (Jodee) Monfils; step-siblings Steven Litke, Thomas Litke, Michelle Everts, and David Litke; honorary brother Paul (Mary) Whiting; and a large extended family of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and long-time friends Steve and Cindy Hughes.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer (Marilyn) Monfils and Shirley Nyman; his parents-in-law, Vernon and Jeanette Senkel; and aunts, uncles, and two sisters-in-law.
A memorial tribute will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton, WI. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is collecting donations for the National Park Foundation.
