Ronald “Ron” Raymond Miller, age 84 of Appleton, WI passed away on February 27, 2026. He was born to John and Johanna (Baumbler) Miller on July 10, 1941 in Appleton, WI. After high school, Ron worked for Fox River Paper and worked there for many years, retiring as a supervisor after 35 years. He continued working at Outagamie-Waupaca Library System (O.W.L.S.) until he was actually ready to retire ten years later. Ron married the love of his life, Carol Emmer in August of 1957. Together, they raised 5 wonderful children.
Ron was many things, but could be described as just an all-around good guy. He enjoyed the true Wisconsin past times of hunting and fishing, but especially enjoyed the peace of fishing. Ron was also quite the prankster, especially to his kids and grandkids. You could often find Ron outside, tending to his garden in Spring or enjoying a nice cold beer in his Styrofoam koozie on the porch. He never liked to sit still and always had a project he was tinkering with. More than anything, though, Ron loved his family and cherished every moment he could spend with his wife, kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
Ron is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Mike (Cathy), Terri (Ed), Pat (Diane), Rick (Lisa), and Marc (special friend Maggie); 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Bob, Jack, Ray (Kathy), Jim (Lavern), Tom (Laureen), and Sue; Carol’s siblings-in-law, Jeanne and Ted; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, John and Johanna; his parents-in-law, Howard and Helen; his brother, Leroy; his siblings-in-law, Irma, Cathy, and Henry; and Carol’s siblings, Tom and Rita.
A memorial visitation will be held for Ron from 9-11 AM on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a memorial service to follow at 11 AM. Ron will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton, WI.
