Robert A. Verkuilen

Robert “Bob” Arnold Verkuilen, age 88 of Kaukauna, WI joined his heavenly kingdom on April 18, 2026. He was born to the late John and Anna (VanSchyndel) Verkuilen on December 5, 1937 in Kaukauna, WI. He went into the service and was honorably discharged from the Air Force. He then spent most of his career as a rewinder operator at Thilmany’s Paper Mill, retiring after 40 loyal years. Bob met the love of his life, Gloria Jean Tousey, and they spent a while writing love letters to each other while he was in the service. They were married in November of 1960 and together, they raised 3 wonderful children.

Bob was a stoic, rugged outdoorsman, but secretly had a heart of gold. He enjoyed the simple pleasure of fishing and woodworking, making little ornaments and swings for his lawn. Like any Midwest father, Bob had a deep love for landscaping, maintaining his lawn and making his garden grow. He would always avoid card games whenever he could to keep a good relationship with his family. More than anything, though, Bob loved his family and cherished every moment he could spend with his wife, kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He was so proud of everyone he helped to raise and took pride in spoiling his various grandkids.

Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Gloria; his children, Joe, Lori (Dave), and Rob “Red”; his grandchildren, Gina, Kyle, Stephanie, Stacie (Elijah), Matthew (Lace), Kaitlin, and Emily; 10 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Dolores, Pat (Harry), George, Joseph, Beverly, and James (Sharon); his siblings-in-law, Bob, Tim (Vicki), Jolayne (Ronald), and Linda; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.

In heaven, Bob is reunited with his parents; his siblings, Bruce, John (Anna), Arden (Rosemary), Anna Marie (Merlin), John (Carol, Frances (Walter); and his siblings-in-law, Diane, Marilyn, Alan, Arda, and Richard.

A memorial visitation will be held for Bob from 9:30 – 11:30 AM on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer St, Kaukauna, WI 54130 with a mass to follow at 11:30 AM. Bob will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Kaukauna, WI following the service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in honor of Bob.
