Robert A. Niver, age 95, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at Touchmark Assisted Living, Appleton. He was born on August 12, 1930, in Antrim County, MI, the son of Rex and Amelia (Horn) Niver. Bob graduated from high school in Newberry, MI in 1950. In 1951, he joined the U.S. Army, spending the winter of 1952 in Korea, arriving home in April of 1953. In 1953, he started college at Michigan Tech, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. In 1955, he transferred to Michigan Tech in Houghton where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1957. In 1980, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Masters of Business Administration.
In 1955, he married Patricia “Pat” Duquette at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, in Newberry. In 1957, Bob and Pat moved to Neenah where Bob joined the engineering staff at Kimberly Clark. Bob retired in 1988, after 31 years of service as a Senior Project Engineer, Consumer Products Division.
All his life, Bob was an avid hunter, starting with hunting rabbits and then grouse, squirrels and deer, eventually getting his wife, Pat, and son, Mike, to join him. Bob also enjoyed sports cars and photography and became a wonderful driver of Class A Motorhomes. After Pat’s retirement in 1994, they became members of the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) and traveled throughout the US and Canada. When the children were growing up, many vacations were spent visiting National Parks. In 2014, Bob joined the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washinton, DC as a Korean War Veteran.
Bob is survived by his wife Pat and their five children and families: Catherine (Christopher) Vick, Barbara (Darnell) Radtke, Janet (Robert) Janssen, Michael (Julie) Niver, and Elizabeth “Beth” (Jaime Peterson) Niver. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Derek and Dustin Radtke, Jordan and Timothy Vick, Andrea (Kyle) Hopka, and Adam Niver; three great grandchildren: Noelle, Lucie, and Jase Hopka.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; a brother; Charles; and a sister: Mary Jane Burhop.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30PM, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Touchmark Assisted Living, 2601 Touchmark Dr., Appleton. Visitation will be on Thursday at Touchmark from 2PM until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Pillars, Appleton, or Old Glory Honor Flight, Inc., P.O. Box 452, Menasha, WI 54952.
