Robert Elmer Lopas

Robert Elmer Lopas, 83, passed away on October 11, 2023. He was born on August 15, 1940 to Elmer and Antionette Lopas. Bob married Donna Wildenberg on August 11, 1960, at Holy Name Parish, Kimberly. He worked at Thilmany Papers for 42 years and was a volunteer firefighter for the Combined Locks Fire Department for 20 years. Bob and Donna lived in Combined Locks until retirement, when they moved to their cottage on Koonz Lake in Gresham.

Bob was a very active baseball and softball player in the Fox Cities, and coached Little League in Combined Locks. He loved fishing and rabbit hunting with his beagles in his younger years. He also volunteered as a church usher for many years at St. Paul Combined Locks and St. Francis in Gresham. He enjoyed playing cards, particularly sheepshead, klinker, and cribbage, where he once got a perfect hand. Bob will miss Monday morning QB card club. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren fishing, picking berries, shake of the day, and attending their sporting events. Bob and Donna did everything together, from sitting around a campfire, having a few beers, cooking a fish fry, and shooting the breeze with friends and family. They always looked forward to Wednesday afternoons spent with Jim and Annie at Tigers.

Bob is forever missed by his wife, Donna Lopas; sons, Bob (Mary) Lopas and Bill (Billie) Lopas; grandchildren, Carly (Matt) Fronsee, Brett (Anna) Lopas, Zac Lopas, Jake Lopas, and Aimee Lopas; great-grandchildren, Teddy and Drew Fronsee, and Ryann, Peyton, and Benny Lopas; and siblings-in-law, Jim (Maggie) Wildenberg, Jay Wildenberg, and Linda Lopas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Toni Lopas; stepfather, Jerry Grissman; parents-in-law, Wally and Eileen Wildenberg; brothers, Don (Darlene) Lopas, Tom (Sandy) Lopas, and Dave Lopas; and siblings-in-law, Clay (Carol) Wildenberg and Sue Wildenberg.

A visitation will be held for Bob on Thursday, October 19, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Jansen Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E. Kimberly Ave, Kimberly.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center and the staff at The Renaissance Assisted Living for their wonderful and amazing care of Bob.
