Age 46, passed away unexpectedly in Toronto, Canada on Saturday, June 20, 2009. He was born in Appleton on October 21, 1962 the son of the late Gabor and Clare (Atkin) Markovits. After graduating from High School he attended and graduated from Gill-Tech Academy. He owned and operated Robert Joseph Salon in Menasha for many years. Robert loved to travel with his partner, Troy, to places such as the Caribbean and Canada. He enjoyed participating in the activities with the Bear Club for Men. He will be remembered for his helpful nature and for cherishing his many friends.

Robert is survived by his partner, Troy; and further survived by family and many good friends.

The memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009 at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 724 E. South River St., Appleton, with Dr. Rev. Gail Simonds officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

A thank you is extended to the emergency services in Toronto for their wonderful care. Further, a special thank you is extended to all of Robert's friends who supported him and made his life special.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Robert's name is being established.
