Robert F. Frede, 93, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully with beloved family by his side on May 30, 2024, at Aspire Senior Living in Kimberly, Wisconsin. Robert was born on December 20, 1930, in Wisconsin Rapids to Peter and Irene Frede.
Robert graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids and joined the United States Army where he served from 1949 to 1953 in Korea as a Forward Observer for B Battery 77th FAB First Cavalry Division. Following his military service, he attended the DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL and worked in television as an engineer in Rockford, IL, Madison, WI, and Milwaukee, WI, for more than 40 years. He served in several positions before retiring as an Engineering Supervisor from Channel 10 in Milwaukee, WI.
Robert loved playing baseball and softball, hunting, “Deer Camp”, snowmobiling and in his later years, riding his Harley with his “best friend”, Nancy. He was a member of VFW Post #6279, Disabled American Veterans, ABATE of Wisconsin, and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Robert is survived by his sons, Pete (Patty) Frede, Mike (Karen) Frede, two step-children, Lisa Shier and Brian Willms as well as many grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his devoted wife of more than 40 years, Nancy, daughter Cindy (Mike) Donnelly, his parents and sister Ellyn (Tom) McCanney.
A graveside service and burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024 at Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Aspire Senior Living and Compassus Hospice Care. Arrangements are under the care of Wichmann Funeral Homes and Crematories.
