Robert A. Fischer

Robert Fischer, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday afternoon, May 29, 2011. Bob was born in Shawano County on June 18, 1916, son of the late Frank and Laura (Lex) Fischer. In June of 1939 he married Marjorie Servi at St. John's Church in Antigo; she survives. Bob's life revolved around farming – he was a farmer, a milk hauler, and worked for Berg Farm Equipment for a time. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends, camping, making wood, polka music, and Mary's accordion playing. Many will recall the many yard decorations he made from cedar: lawn swings, windmills, and planters. He was a former member of St. Boniface Church in Aniwa where he enjoyed singing in the choir.

Bob is survived by his wife: Marjorie Fischer of Kaukauna; five daughters: Mary (Ronald) Skinner of Kaukauna, Kathryn (Robert) Zimmerman of DePere, Barbara (Lyle) Diedrich of Kaukauna, Lora (Steve) Werth of Kaukauna, and Kristine (Jim) Anthony of Appleton. There is a daughter-in-law in Minnesota: Juanita Fischer. His grandchildren are Steve (Gwen) Skinner, Mark (Jeanne) Skinner, Vicky Mischler, Amy (Jim) Brandt, Paul (Jane) Zimmerman, Mark (Teresa) Zimmerman, Rodney Zimmerman, Diane Verhagen, Dan (Jen) Diedrich, Dayna Werth, Lindsay Werth, Justin (Kelly) Anthony, Bradley Anthony, Debbie Fischer, Tracy (John) Laraas, Suzanne (Warren) Seideman, Robert (Trish) Fischer, III, and Angie (Luke) Martens. There are also twenty-eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren: Bob also has two brothers: Harry (Delores) Fischer of Norrie and Raymond (Marge) Fischer of Wausau; and three sisters-in-law: Dorothy Fischer of Wittenberg, Marie Fischer of Birnamwood, and Betty Fischer of Green Bay; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Paul, a son Robert Fischer, Jr., and his brothers and sisters and their spouses: Lawrence Fischer, John (Pauline) Fischer, Joe (Bernice) Fischer, William (Mary) Fischer, Frank Fischer, Phillip (Edna) Fischer, Ed Fischer, Barbara (John Beck, Rudy Mondl), Mary (Otto) Lambrecht, and Delores (Don) Fremming.

The funeral liturgy for Bob will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30 until the time of the mass.
