Obituary

Richard James “Dick” Murray, age 90, of Appleton, WI died July 22, 2026, at the Copperstone Assisted Living in Neenah, WI.

Dick was born August 22, 1935, in Fond du Lac, WI to the late Maurice and Helen Murray. He married Antoinette “Toni” Bastien September 1, 1956, at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Dick proudly served int eh U.S. Army as a radar section chief in Thule, Greenland and received the National Defense Service Medal. Following his time in the miliary, he attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and Milwaukee School of Engineering. Dick worked for several companies over the years in Wisconsin and Ohio in purchasing and materials management. He enjoyed playing racquetball and basketball at the Appleton YMCA and especially liked to play golf with family and friends. Dick and Toni vacationed with high school friends Pat and Buzzy and their families for many years, and later with Jerry and Connie in Florida. He also looked forward to weekly phone calls with his lifelong Army buddy Ron Neuman.

Dick is survived by his wife Toni of nearly 70 years, two sons Patrick (special friend Dawn) Murray and Michael (Stephanie) Murray; grandchildren: Kyle Murray, Kelly Murray, Hannah (Mitchell) Schreiber, Father Nicolas Stellpflug, and great grandchildren Chiara, Vincent and Colette Schreiber. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tom (Peggy) Murray, and sister Janette (Ed) Leonhardt.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00am on Thursday August 6, 2026, at Wichmann Funeral Home-Tri County Chapel, 1592 S Oneida, Menasha. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 9:00am until the service begins. Dick will be placed in a niche at St Paul Cemetery, Combined Locks.
