Richard J. Geurts

Richard J. Geurts, Kaukauna, age 68, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 3, 2010 with his family by his side after a long struggle with heart disease. Dick was born on May 27, 1941 to the late Fred and Irene (Coenen) Geurts. Dick loved to fish, hunt, play cards and get together with his friends for their morning coffee. He married Dianne Schaetz on September 5, 1963 at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom. Dick worked with Badger Northland, Kaukauna for 37 years retiring in 1996. Survivors include his beloved wife, Dianne, his loving children and grandchildren, Rick (Joanna) Geurts and his children, Connor & Tristan, Tucson, AZ., Connie (Ken) Zirbel and their children, Chad, Maxwell, Cole & Abby, Kaukauna, Rob Geurts and his children, Bailey & Brianna, Kaukauna and Roy (Sun hyung) Geurts, Madison, four step-grandchildren, Joe, Michael, Andrew, Maura McDonough, Tucson, six sisters, Arlene (Floyd) Huss, Beatrice, Anthony, Bonnie (Ronald) Schmidt, all of Kaukauna, Mary (Marvin) Van Asten, Freedom, JoAnn (Al) Lauterborn, Suring and Judy (Dennis) Brockman, Cecil, three brothers, James (Robin), Kaukauna, Marlin (Vicky), Appleton and Dan (Mary), Wrightstown, sister-in-law, Ardene Welhouse, mother-in-law, Ellen Schaetz, four brothers-in-law, Dennis, Darold, Steve (Tammy) and Joe Schaetz and by three sisters-in-law, Joy (Dan) Rickert, Kari (Dale Liebergen) and Kathy (John) Igoe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Irene, sister, Shirley (Jim) Ambrosius and two brothers, Roland and John Geurts. A Mass of Christian Burial for Dick will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, W2037 County Rd. S, Freedom with Fr. Dave Hoffman officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Interment will take place in the church's cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name.
