Obituary

Richard “Rick” James Gullickson, 82, of McAllister, WI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on August 18, 2026.

Rick was born on September 11, 1943, in Neenah, WI to parents Clarence and Esther (VanRemortel) Gullickson and was raised in Neenah with his five siblings. He graduated from Neenah High School in 1961 and then enlisted in the United States Navy. There he served as a Petty Officer 3rd Class E-4 on the USS Lynde McCormick DDG-8 from 1961 – 1964. After his time in the service Rick was employed at George Banta Company for 42 years.

In 1965 he met the love of his life, Constance “Connie” Buelow, and they were married in 1967. Rick was a dedicated husband and father, enjoying his time attending all of his children's activities. He especially enjoyed sharing his love of all things outdoors, as Rick was a masterful hunter and fisherman. He had many unforgettable experiences teaching these skills to his children while thanking the good Lord for patience along the way. Rick also had an affinity for music and taught himself to play the guitar and banjo. It was always a treat when he would share his talent with his loved ones. After retirement, he moved up north with his wife. There, his garden, music, and raising bees brought him happiness and peace in his life. He also had a special place in his heart for his dogs, Jake and Phoebe.

Rick is survived by Connie, his loving wife of 59 years, his sons Brian (Vickie), Menasha, Steven (Kerri), Hortonville, Kevin (Amy), Appleton, Aaron (Michelle), Fox Crossings, daughter Kristin (Travis) Deal, TN. He is also survived by grandchildren Alexis (Michael) Lang, Katelyn (Cameron) Rohde, Maggie and Josie (step-grandchildren), Theodore (Juliana), Abigail (Jonah), Elijah, Bryanna (Jordan), Brayden (Alivia), Ava (Seth) Spaeth, Emma (Abram), Isla, Cora, Oliver, Lana, and Charlotte. Great-grandchildren Aria, Colton, Hudson, and a couple more on the way. His brothers Ron (Jackie), Neenah, and Don, Neenah, and sister Mary (Mike) Jovanovich, Neenah, and sister-in-law Debbie Gullickson, West Bend.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Esther Gullickson, and his brothers Robert “Bob”, and Daniel “Dan” Gullickson, and sister-in-law Helen Gullickson.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Menasha, 324 Nicolet Blvd, with visitation starting at 12:00 pm and Mass starting at 1:30 pm. Military funeral honors will follow mass with interment at St. John's cemetery for family only.

The family would like to thank Dr. Omekanda (“Dr. O”) and the team at Aurora Medical Center Bay Area as well as Bristol Hospice for their compassion and dedicated care.
