Richard “Dick” Harvey Gamble, age 71, passed away February 4th, 2026, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was born June 26th, 1954, in Wyandotte, Michigan, a son of the late Harvey John Gamble and Virginia Eleanor Johnson.
Dick graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a B.S. in Mathematics and Economics. He earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He worked as a trust officer and trust department manager at Bank One in the nineties, and later practiced estate law as a partner at Silton Law Firm until 2006. Dick finished his career as a leader at Fiduciary Partners where he managed multiple teams and mentored the next generation of trust officers, retiring in 2020.
Dick loved spending time outdoors: camping, hiking, skiing, canoeing, fishing, golfing - anything that got him outside. He shared this love with his family, going on week-long wilderness adventures with his brother Scott or his children, or simply taking a hike on a Saturday afternoon. At home Dick enjoyed cards and board games with family and friends. He and Kris played bridge with friends, and family gatherings always had at least one board or card game going at any given time.
Dick will be remembered for his sharp wit, his endearing sense of humor, and his endless care for others. He was active at his churches, participating in men’s bible study for many years, teaching confirmation, and serving as president of the council at First English Lutheran Church and Christus Lutheran Church. He also served his community, volunteering at Theda Care Hospice and Pillars.
Dick is survived by his wife Kris Meinert; his children: Rick Gamble, Carolyn (Tim) Wanamaker, Nell (Nick Bedi) Gamble, and Jack (Nicola Gray) Gamble; his siblings: Tom (Maria) Gamble, Susan Yates, John “Scott” (Michele) Gamble, and Kathy Cotto; his grandchildren: Isaac and Simon Gamble, Mason and Bennett Wanamaker, and Oliver and Briony Gamble; and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
There will be a visitation at from 4 - 7 pm on Friday, February 20th at Wichmann Funeral Home in downtown Appleton, WI. The funeral service will take place at 11 am on Saturday, February 21st at Christus Lutheran Church in Greenville, WI and will be streamed online by Wichmann Funeral Home. Visitation before the funeral will start at 9:30 and there will be lunch at the church after.
The family asks that those wishing to make a memorial gift please contribute to LEAVEN (an emergency financial supply for Fox Cities households) or Pillars (devoted to ending homelessness in Appleton).
