Randy Zitzelsberger, age 58, of Appleton, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 1, 1955, to the late Tony and Cele (Rueden) Zitzelsberger in Appleton. Randy graduated from Appleton West High School and furthered his education at the Fox Valley Technical College. On October 14, 1978, he married the love of his life, Sue Retzlaff, and they spent 34 and a half wonderful years together. Randy always had the gift of gab and could make a friend anywhere. He enjoyed helping his dad on his vegetable farm in his spare time, and he worked for many years at the Hortonville Toy Factory and Michels Materials before retiring. Randy loved being a “papa” and had a dream to farm with his son as well as collecting antiques, rummaging, taking care of his yard, being outdoors, and tinkering in his shed. His family was the most important thing to him, and they will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Zitzelsberger; children, Amy Zitzelsberger and Eric (Crystal) Zitzelsberger; grandchildren, Dominic Houle, Ann Zitzelsberger, Randy Zitzelsberger, and Kinze Zitzelsberger; siblings, Steve (Sharon) Zitzelsberger, Barb (Don) Laux, and Mark (Barb) Zitzelsberger; mother-in-law, Marian Retzlaff; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Diane (Dan) Vanden Heuvel, Wayne (Diane) Retzlaff, Jean (Shawn) Luft, Karen (Jim) Yurs, and Jeff (Vicki) Retzlaff; special cousin, Gary (Midge) Rueden; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many great friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Cele Zitzelsberger; granddaughter, Lilly Zitzelsberger; and father-in-law, Orin Retzlaff; grandparents, cousins, and numerous aunts and uncles.
A memorial service for Randy will be at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette Street, Appleton, with Fr. Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Visitation will take place at church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
