Wichmann Funeral Home
5:00 - 7:00 pm (Central time)
Randal “Randy” Buss, age 71, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026. He was born on June 10, 1955, to Don and Bonita Buss, both of whom preceded him in death.
Randy spent most of his life in Appleton and Freedom, Wisconsin, before eventually retiring to Pickerel, where he and his beloved wife, Michele, built their home together. It was there that they enjoyed their retirement and the life they had created together.
Randy worked for 33 years at Ken’s Motorsports, where he became known for his incredible mechanical ability and his willingness to tackle just about anything. He truly was a jack of all trades. If something was broken, needed fixing, or simply needed figuring out, Randy was the person people turned to. At home, he could fix nearly anything, and he was happiest when he was tinkering away in his workshop, working with his hands and finding a way to make things work.
Beyond his remarkable ability to fix things, Randy will be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, and willingness to help others. He was the kind of friend and neighbor who could always be counted on. If someone needed a favor, a helping hand, or something repaired, Randy was there.
Randy had a lifelong love of music, especially classic rock from the 1970s and 1980s, although his appreciation for music extended across many genres. He was also a true die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. In his younger years, he loved riding motorcycles, and carried that adventurous spirit with him throughout his life.
Above all, Randy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Michele; his sons, Drew (Annie) and Dylan; and his step-grandchildren, Serenity and Daniel, whom he loved and considered his grandchildren in every sense of the word. He is also survived by his brothers, Alan and Tim.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Bonita Buss, and his half-siblings, Tom and Connie.
Randy leaves behind more than memories of the things he built, repaired, and accomplished. He leaves behind the people he helped, the friends and neighbors who knew they could count on him, the family he loved, and the countless small moments that made him who he was.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life gathering will take place on Wednesday September 23, 2026, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N Superior Street, Appleton.
